I am at loss here. I have read more than once people on this list mention that
PNP modems should work under Linux.

I just got a PNP hardware modem (Modem Blaster). It is not a WinModem.
However, upon asking Creative Labs technical support whether I could use it with
Linux, their answer was that I can't use this modem because it doesn't have
jumpers for COM and IRQ settings. I don't mind using any COM port. I don't know
why I need to set jumpers on this modem. My old modem worked fine without
setting any jumpers!

Any help would be appreciated.
