RE: 3c509B PnP card and RedHat 6.1...

turn off PnP mode, if you use the 3com etherdisk there is a batch file
called pnpdsbl or something similar that turns it off. Then choose
autoconfigure in the 3com config tool, it'll pick IRQ's e.t.c. that are
free, MAKE A NOTE OF THE SETTINGS, goto device manager in windows and change
the settings to match the actual settings of the card, Linux should see it
via an autoprobe.

Ok, I have tried numerous things to get this to work. I have turned off
PnP and it *DID* work in Linux, however, Win98 refused to recognize the
card. I tried setting all kinds of IRQ's and I/O ports under windows, it
just doesn't want to see it. I turned PnP back on and Linux refuses to
recognize the card. I tried all kinds of ether= settings and no luck.

I have read in the Hardware web pages that there are people that have had
success with the card. Has anyone reading this list had success and what
steps need to be taken to get the NIC card to work?

Thanks,
Dave
