squid cache errors.... what do i do to fix em..?

I am running Redhat 6.o on a customers server but squid keeps on
crashing and not staying up....

I asked a mate to have a look at it remotely and he sent me an email
saying the following...

"You've run out of swap file numbers
Squid Parent: child process XXX exited due to signal 6"

can someone please expalin what this means and what i should do about
it..?
