Re: Was my decission to buy RH 6.0 Official a wise one?

If you continue to have difficulty please contact <listmaster redhat com>.
Personally, I have used Slackware and RedHat (from the early 90's to present) and indeed the interface has come a LONG way. Granted it's not as pretty as NT or Windows 9x, but how many times has your Linux box locked up on you to the point you couldn't do anything? I think this is also a trademark of M$. ;)
Seriously though, the nice thing about RH6.0 is it's getting to the point of needing no experiance at the command line. I do like the option of booting to X-Windows or not booting to X-Win. Besides that, you were speaking of the supplimental disks. Yes, this is another point of searching on the internet or having it there on CD. Again, this is another 'choice' the user can make. All and all, FreeBSD has a good idea (though I haven't used it personally) for installing programs. If the program is not on the drive and you type 'make <program>' it will come up and say "You don't have this program, ftping from site", upon completion of the ftp... it then makes the program and installs it. *Poof!* Now you're all ready to run that program. That is indeed a nice feature and something that I would like to see in RH distributions.
Overall, there are over 255 flayvors of Linux and, like ice cream.. if you don't like one, try another as you are certain to find one that you like. ;)
