Hi Luis,
Sorry, mate, I've got to disagree with your NT statement. NT is only easy until something goes
wrong. Have fun with the registry ;-)
RH requires you to learn the system, just the way old DOS types once had to learn all of the arcane
edlin and batch commands, and the QEMM or BlueMax switches to become DOS wizards. Quite a
bit of the info you see in the unleashed book is on the cd in the documentation, just in a different
format and not collated. It's simply a long chore to get it all out and read it. I have the unleased
book, as well. It's great. But I also use the how-to docs and the RH user guide. And a dozen online
resources.
Any *NIX has a steep learning curve. You can't escape it. Anyone looking for _USER_ power and
superior ease of use should pick up an iMac, not Linux. WIN9x and NT are in a separate class. They
have power in some areas, but lack true "drivers seat" power. You can only easily do what Bill
wants you to do. Anything more requires tinkering with the unknown. Want to see an NT cry? Ask
him about his uptime ;-) Admin'ing an NT network is a miserable job....
If you want to know what's going on and make a system sing, Linux is the only way to go. NT will
never have that because MS will never, never provide enough documentation on the registry and
even if they did, their GUI admin tools don't give admins access to everything.
Cheers,
Trent The Thief
