I had this archived from a mailing list. It worked for a customer I
dealt with last week.

In the 2.2 kernels the nfs server support in the kernel is
experimental
hence in the kernel config (menu, or x) you must
select the first option (code level maturity) and select/prompt
allow for incomplete code., drivers ..blah blah
This will then let you select the nfs server support and sun
emulation etc.
If you don't do the first step above they are blocked from selection.
Even
if you manually edit the .config file to add..
CONFIG_NFSD=y
CONFIG_NFSD_SUN=y
It still will not work for some reason, (probobly a config setting
higher up
in the file regarding the code maturity)
Anyways enable that option in config and compile, when you boot and
nfsd
starts you will no longer get the nfssvc: function not implemented
error due
to the system call not being available.
