Dear Sir,
Problem 1 (FTP)
I had setup a getty and PPP, but I have some question about the connection.
First, I can dial up and login to the remote linux server, I type ppp at the
prompt and the screen display garbage, after that I start the FTP client
software at the client PC but the FTP client prompt that it cannot make the
connection to the linux server.
a. What's the problem about the FTP client connection ?
b. Can I start the ppp automatically after the remote login.
c. I can use the FTP client software to connect to the server through LAN
and I
found that the client can browse/go to the other directory in the
server, is there any configuration to restrict the user go everywhere?
Problem 2 (Samba)
d. After the server bootup and I type the command ps -x it display
that there has a process "nmbd" running but I can't see the "smbd" run
is there any setup I miss ?
e. I had used the command testparm to test the smb.conf and it display
Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host xxxxxxxx (xxxxxx is the domain name I want
to use)
failed to get my hostname
How can I fix it?
f. I know that I need to edit the win95 registry to login to the samba
server.
I want to know that the value name is "EnablePlainTextPassword Data" or
"Enable Plain Text Password"
Problem 3 (IPX)
G. The console always display a message that "IPX Collision 111 eth0 802.3
and eth0 802.2" and I need to enable IPX protocol/setting to share the
novell resource.
How can I fix it?
Thank you for your kindly attention
