What __exactly__ do you have? Who makes the drive and what is the part number?
What does the data cable plug into? The Motherboard? An add-on controller?

The "promise-66" is a controller not a disk drive. Are you trying to use
an add-on ultra-66 controller? If so just skip it and cable the drive
directly to the IDE connector on the motherboard. All '66 drives fall back
to 33Mhz mode and are backward compatible.

The only way I know of is to keep watching the kernel source that
Linus releases periodically. I have seen a few web pages that try and
summarize what is in each new kernel but they don't go into such detail
as to list new/improved drivers.
