Adding SCSI controler (Adapted 2940UW)

I need to add an SCSI controler and SCSI disk to the Linux Box (5.2).
Has anybody gone through something like this before.
I'd like to know what are the steps that I have to follow
to get the system to recognize the new controler and Hard Disk.
