CTRL-ALT-F(1-6) will dump you to another full screen text term.  CTRL-ALT-F7 
will bring back X.

Newbie question:

How does one exit Gnome to the RH6 Linux bash prompt?

startx launches Gnome from the bash prompt.
The Gnome logout menu shuts down Linux.

I can't seem to find the proper Help file or man pages entry that explain
how to do this.
