PCMCIA network card problems

I have a PCMCIA network card (3COM 3CCFE575BT-D) that wasn't covered in the
RedHat 6.0 distribution.  It has since been included in the driver .cs file
that is available on the web.  My question is on how to add that new card
driver.  Is it a loadable module or does it require kernel recompilation?
If the former what are the generic steps to build a loadable module for a
first-timer?

The laptop is a Dell Latitude LT.  In linuxconf I can pick the ethO device
but the kernel module doesn't include the 575 card.  If I add the 575 card
by recompiling the kernel I probably want to blast the other 30 something
cards in that card list to free up resources?
