So I presume you want to get your samba server to "join" a domain, as
opposed to participating in a workgroup. You should look at the
DOMAIN_MEMBER.txt documentation. If you are using the redhat rpm, then
look in /usr/doc/samba-2.0.5a/docs/*/ There are two trees, an html tree
(htmldocs), and a text tree. The text tree (textdocs) has more
information (obviously not all of it has been HTML-ized).
FYI: note also that the /usr/doc/samba*/docs/ tree has some registry files
that allow you to turn off encrypted passwords. Don't! do this though: you
will want to ENABLE encrypted passwords for your set up .. I just mention
it so that other people on the list are aware of it when they want to set
up simple workgroup servers. I've seen a few questions about plaintext
passwords and samba in the last few days.
