Re: screen problem

-Well now I use a Hyperbook HB8603 (SUNREX make) with a TFT 12.2 and chip&Tech. 65554 with 2Mega (which RH recognizes correctly during installation) ,64 Mb ram ,1.2Giga HD (dedicated for RH ).
The problem is that when I set the screen (either as LCD 800x600 or as GENERIC monitor) the TEST it button doesn't work ,not even at 8bit  colour).
Now my problem is that it used to work with RH 6.0 and with CorelLinux (I'm in computers since 1982 and I used almost any platform ecxept LInux/Unix so consider me a newbie). The other thing is with my ethernet pcmcia in Corel linux it works fine but in RH it doesn't so i start to think that maybe the problem lies with RH distribution (which is the one I PAID for) .The manuals that came with the distribution suck big time ,everything is written for people that have an idea about unix while they had to make the transition easier for Ex-Dos/Win users.
Now don't Take me wrong What I say is that I don't have a problem to figure out things in a hard OS (like LINUX) but I need MANUALS.Even the How to's they are writen in way that assume previus knowledge about the OS.Simple things like "go to directory /bin/......../something and extract the xxxxxx.xxx.1.2.3.gz.zip then install it" seem like a mountain to a newbie .I belive that LINUX is much better than Win (that's why I wanna use it) but i think it's stupid that i can't even do things the way they supposed to work (furthermore if they work in the stupied Win they ought to work in Linux too).
Ok That's all if anyone has any idea about the screen prob or the ethernet pcmcia it will be greatlly apreciated.
PS. Thanks to everyone that already replied.

You need to go to the linux laptop page where you will find a link to a page
specifically about setting up Linux on your model of laptop. There you will find
instructions on setting up X, or an XF86Config file specifically for your
laptop.

Just for future reference, people can only help you out if you tell them what
sort of machine you're running on - make and model...
