Whoa!  I have to play devil's advocate enough here... I was referring to
user pc's ONLY.

If a business client asks, I recommend LINUX/Samba backend servers for
stable integrations where support/upgrade problems can be focused more
easily than possible with the typical enterprise where the variety of
desktops really promote simple Win installations.. esp given StarOffice
works fine in W98.

And I don't believe I'm alone in this view.  .. research actual installation
demographics for Linux vs Win in commercial domains.

Cost of win license vs Linux per desktop unit (even -or especially- NT) is
really NOT a factor given COS/unit/annum.

Unfortunately, I ALSO have to agree that I'd pay the piper for a Solaris
Server for such mission critical apps.
