Howdy Anas,

there's a low level facility, the "magic SysRq key" which will allow you
to pull back your machine from the brink. You need to compile it into
your kernel ("yes" to Magic SysRq key (CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ)). Have a look
at /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sysrq.txt. It's great for avoiding a
reboot when X crashes...
