SV: random monitor flash

I've actually had the same problem and it's definitely not a 'loose connection' 
;)
I would also be interested in hearing what the solution is.  I have a PnP 17" 
monitor with a Matrox AGP 100 (4MB) graphic card. I'm using the SVGA server. 
I've set the resolutions to 1024 x 768 pixels with a refresh rate of 64 mHz (I 
believe). I am also running Red Hat 6.1.
