Hi - I changed my XF86Config after installation 
because it could only detect a 8-bit color depth 
for my laptop LCD. However befor X starts, an 
error message pops up:
According to /var/run/gdm.pid, gdm was already 
running(683), but seems to be murdered 
mysteriously.
I have a toshiba satellite 4000 CDT and I 
followed the XF86Config that is posted on the 
web. I changed to default color depth to 16, 
since 8-bit is really awkward to see.
