All,
I have the (usual) small home network (now) with a RH6.1 server install
as the central point. I have various other machines connected via a hub
- the main machine either running Win98 SE or also Rh6.1
The problem I have is that under 6.0, the server was happily running
SAMBA providing printers and shared drives to the windows clients - this
was especially useful when I brought the laptop home from work with all
those 'direct connection' downloads on!
The problem is that since upgrading to RH6.1, there is now a problem
with SAMBA.
Although the server is running fine - ie, I can run smbclient to connect
which reports all the various shares and printers correctly. If I
connect from the windows machine, there is a long wait before windows
reports that the Domain controller couldn't validate my password (or
words close to that). At this point, I can still access the public
shares - just not the user specific one!
[note, if I add the -Urichard option to login with smbclient as a user,
entering the password is fine!]
This is the same no matter what I do to the 'password encrypt' option in
the smb.conf file.
I don't believe this is directly related to the passwords from Win98,
because the aforementioned Laptop from work is running Win95 and this
reports the same problem - again, the laptop worked fine with RH6.0
I've upgraded SAMBA to 2.0.6 but this has not altered anything.
Any ideas ?
Regards,
Richard
