	First of all check if the file (XF86Config) in which u are making
changes is bieng run by startx or some other file. How do u do that ??
	#X -probeonly 2>tmpCon
read this file and see the PATH of the XF86Config file.
	Secondly, check if u are using VGA16 server or something else.
	u will know this from the tmpCon file. OR
	ls -l /etc/X11/X
	Its a link to the server bieng used.
Then try out diff. refresh rates and see. from Xconfigurator.
Or the most reliable is xconf or xf86config.
