Help needed with Kppp dialout to ISP

Hi all
Sorry to ask a stupid question here, I think that it may of been covered in
another posting but not sure, anyway...when trying to connect to my ISP I
get the error that the "PPP daemon died unexpectedly" and to see
/var/log/messages for details. I am using Kppp to dial out and when i look
through the messages log then I get the message of "The remote system is
required to authenticate itself but I couldnt find any secret (password)
which would let it use an IP address" When setting up the connection it
prompted me for a password and I put this in but still i get this
error...could anyone shed some light on this please ?? its RedHat 6.1 just
in case any one wants to know with a standard 56K ext modem.
