Hi Thomas:
I had a go at using cd "De Martino" and it worked great! Thanks a lot.
For the second question, the actual situation about the Win share is as
follows:
NT DATA Server: SRVSCMR1
Share:DATI
under DATI |
SDE (noaccess with my userid)
STP (access with my userid)
I tried the following two lines in a shell as the root user:
smbmount //SRVSCMR1/DATI /mnt/NT username=myuserid
smbmount //SRVSCMR1/DATI/STP /mnt/NT username=myuserid
it seems all ok until after I give the password for myuserid
then this error appears:
"error
Session setup failed: ERRDOS
ERRnoaccess (access denied)"
Take into account that in this case I work as the root user.
I defined a user=myuserid using ADDUSER and a password by means of both
passwd and smbpasswd.
Loggin in as myuserid and password, I issued the following line staying in
/home/myuserid:
smbmount //SRVSCMR1/DATI NT username=myuserid [where NT is a directory
under /home/myuserid)
after I entered the password I got the following message:
"smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (501,501)
smbmnt failed: 1
mount.smbfs: ioctl failed, res= -1
Could not umount /home/myuserid/NT: Operazione non consentita (Not allowed
operation)
mount.smbfs: exit"
What does it all mean?

Try quoting this like
cd "De Martino"
or rename the directory without the spaces.
Spaces in file/directory names are a pain.
You alway forget which have spaces and which don't.

The username and password probably aren't being passed.
How are you attempting to mount the share?
