The daemons are installed and running ? Make sure they are starting up at boot. Make sure telnetd, ftpd, etc. are enables in /etc/inetd.conf. Very often I notice that when making an upgrade or new install of redhat I cannot serve mail (no POP3,
imap, etc.) until I set them in inetd.conf. Could be similar for ftpd, telnet, etc in RH6.2.
