Hi
I have two RH6.2 machines and one RH5.2 machine that I daren't upgrade
until I have this problem cracked.
I can cross mount directories but in general I can only see the top level.
In some cases I can see the lower levels - these are directories that were
made during the installation procedure. In other cases, I can only see
the top directory and possibly the immediate directory down but no files.
I think this must be something to do with permissions or not successfully
exporting the filesystem but I have checked all the former and believe
that by altering the permissions file /etc/exports and restarting nfs I
should be able to see everything OK, at least from root. The other
possiblity is that nfs won't handle very large volumes but I can't see why
this should be so. The partitions I can't see are in general
>=2Gb. Could this be a problem?
The RH5.2 machine behaves perfectly and, while the RH6.2 machines are
complete installs but with the appropriate files copied over. I used the
custom facility - mild moan is that if they don't sense an ethernet card,
you are not offered the opportunity of setting address and IRQ.
I have posted this problem elsewhere with helpful possibilities but no
solution but since this is possibly a specific RH problem, perhaps someone
on this list can help.
I would be very grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction. I
am trying to use this machine to prepare CD-WR backups and therefore need
quite large partitions. The two hard drives are both 20Gb IDE 7200
Maxtors but since I can use these quite happily from the same machine, I
dont think it is an IDE problem. There is also one partition on a 4.3Gb
Quantum that I can't see.
TIA
John
