Can't say that I've done the exact same installation, but I have
successfully used ISA SCSI cards for Red Hat installs. I would try
specifying only the IO port for the SCSI card and let it get the rest of the
information from the card. BTW, I'm using on old IBM PS/1 (486SX25) as my
gateway. Just a little more nostalgia for ya.

Subject: Different Sound Blaster SCSI CDROM Install problem
Hi
I am trying to install Redhat 6.1 on an older pc and am having
issues with the Soundblaster 16 SCSI cdrom. The install appears
to hang after I supply the parameters for the scsi controller for
the second time. I think the problem is different because most
of the mailing list messages in the archive indicate that the
install hangs immediately or much further down the line than I'm
getting.
I'm fairly handy with computers, but no expert. I'll try to
supply all of the necessary info.
The machine is (feel free to enjoy a pang of nostalgia for the
days of our youth) a 486 DX2/66 with
two IDE hard drives (one controller - a master/slave
arrangement),
16 Meg Ram
an Orchid Fahrenheit Vesa local bus video card,
a sound blaster 16 sound card
a "creative labs" cdrom (identified by windows as NEC cdrom
Drive 500:2.5 or something like
that; controlled by the SB card.)
modem
serial mouse (was com1 under windows)
two parallel ports
I've reconfigured the sb card so that it uses interrupt 12 for
the scsi adapter and 10 for the soundblaster card. My modem is
on interrupt 5 and if I remember rightly, the second parallel
port would use interrupt 11.
I boot the install floppy and enter
linux aha152x=0x340,12,7 expert
at the boot prompt. The kernel starts to load and I get asked
for a driver disk. I don't have one, so I select cancel.
I then choose my language as English, US. I get asked what
device contains the packages to be installed -- I reply local
cdrom. I reply "Scsi" to what type of cdrom, and get asked what
driver the installation program should try. I reply Adaptec 152x
and supply the parameters 0x340,12,7 at the prompt. The install
program then attempts to detect the cdrom; the cdrom spins and
the lights on the front go on, but it just hangs
there. Eventually the cdrom stops spinning but I am faced with
a blue screen of death. I have heard that the install may be a
long process on this machine, but I've waited 45 minutes without
any further signs of life.
I have tried this with both the original install floppy and the
6.1 updated install boot image and get the same results. I have
also tried installing with interrupt 11, tried putting ,1 after
the 7 in the parameters for aha152x, not putting "expert" on the
end, and possibly several other things I've forgotten.
Any help would be appreciated.
