Saw this on another Red Hat list. The suggested correction was to put the
following in one of the startup scripts, they suggested /etc/profile
export LESSCHARDEF=.

Subject: Strange Characters in Man Page Output
After upgrading from RH 5.1 to 6.2, I am noticing strange characters in my
man
page output. When a word is broken between the end of one line and the
beginning of the next line such that there would normally be a dash at the
end
of the line, my ouput shows the highlighted characters "<AD>" (without the
quotes). Can someone give me a clue what is going on? Might I have done
anything inadvertantly during the upgrade to cause this. I am still a Linux
newbie so feel free to mention anything that would be obvious to someone
with
more experience.
Thanks,
Ken Traynham
