Box: HP Pavilion 6633c Celeron 500Mhz
OS: Dual Boot Win98/RH6.1
Problem: My Netgear FA310TX PCI Ethernet Card works on the Win side, but
not the RedHat side. I'm using the tulip.o module. Running a small private
network at home based on the 192.168.1. network setup.
I think the problem I have is something to do with the PCI only setup in
this machine. My hope is someone else beat this problem already. My IBM
p-166 has the same release and Net-card, it has no special config needs and
it works fine.
The boot up screen shows eth0 status as OK
After monitoring the list for the last couple of weeks, this is what I have
tried.
/sbin/modprobe tulip (seems to be fine)
/sbin/ifconfig (shows only lo up)
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 (shows the card configured to the proper IP, but not
up)
netstat -i (shows only lo)
/sbin/ifup eth0 (Resource Temporarily Unavailable)
/sbin/lsmod (shows the tulip module, but not used)
I don't have the pci-scan.o module I've read about. Not really sure where
to get it either.
ping command yields "Network Unreachable" The Cat 5 runs are not the issue.
This machine has the Intel810 Chipset. Could that be a problem?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Barney
