Strange problem with HALT

Hi all,

I have a very strange problem ....My Redhat 6.2 box is my Lanserver & IP
Masq

router for my intranet ... Another SuSe box acts as the ISDN gateway
............

now whenever i want to switch off this Redhat box with the 'halt'
command,

it reboots once ( if i am lucky ) before it powers off ( it runs on a
Compaq Proliant machine )

What can i do to force a poweroff the very first time ?
