RE: Different Sound Blaster SCSI CDROM Install problem

Thanks very much for you help. This seems to be going in the
right direction, but doesn't quite do it, unfortunately.

Specifying only the ioport results in an error before vmlinuz
loading -- boot fails. Throwing in interrupt 12 also gets me
further than before. After inputting the parameters 0x340,12 for
the second time, I get a message that the installer has detected
an Adaptec 152x card. It then asks if I want to specify any
other devices. I tried ignoring that hoping that detecting the
card was the same as detecting the cdrom, but I locked up with a
spinning cdrom as before. I started over and tried to look for
some "additional device" to supply, but didn't see anything
useful.

Two thoughts: Do I need some additional kernel module to run the
cdrom? Should I be using sbpcd for example, or is this only for
IDE/ATAPI cdroms?

Second, the jumpers on my cdrom are set for the cdrom to be scsi
device #1 (as opposed to 0). My SB documentation says that
device #0 is usually reserved for a SCSI cdrom. Is this just a
windows convention? Would the default attempt by the linux
installer most likely go to device #0 instead? I suppose it
should be scanning throughout the scsi chain (although I only
have the one device) but maybe this doesn't work well with this
card.

The other jumpers on the cdrom select for turning termination on
or off, and selecting between scsi-1 and scsi-2 functionality.
I know it's scsi-2 right now and I believe termination is on.

Any additional help anyone can provide would be appreciated. My
nostalgia for this hardware is wearing a bit thin and I would
welcome a shortcut in the inevitable sequence of reboots it would
take to check all combination of these parameters.
