What version of Linux (kernel) are you running? (Hint, type
'cat /proc/version' at the shell prompt. You should see an
indication of the kernel version. If it is a recent kernel
(2.2.x) then there really shouldn't be a 64meg limit as
such. Your kernel, in other words, should be able to see
the whole range of your memory.
Earlier versions (prior to 2.2) had a 64 meg limit, and the
fix for those was to add a string either at boot time, or
configured into the initial boot loader (LILO) in order
to see the extra RAM. If you are running an earlier kernel,
you need to add the string "append mem=256" to your /etc/lilo.conf,
rerun lilo (/sbin/lilo -v -v -v -v is how my fingers do it), and
reboot.

Right, but presumably you need a) fast computer, b) plenty of memory,
c) big hard drive, and d) a good video card with the capability of
accepting connections from VCRs etc.
