This is an easy one to fix and a common problem.
Edit /etc/lilo.conf
and add this line under your "root=/dev/hdaX" line:
append="mem=256M"
I'm pretty sure that's the correct line, though I haven't had that
problem recently. It is still a common problem with K6/K7 and possibly
some PIII hardware (integrated video/sound motherboards seem most prone
to this..if you have integrated video, you must subtract the amount of
memory taken by the video buffer). Contrary to what was mentioned by
someone earlier, it does affect the 2.2. kernel series as well as the
2.0 series.
Rerun lilo as mentioned before.
/sbin/lilo
Reboot...and you're done.
