I have an HP-Colorado 5GB IDE tape drive here working with linux. What
kernel version are you using? The HP-Colorado drives weren't supported
until kernel v2.2.x, IIRC. Do you have IDE tape support compiled into
your kernel? Is the device located by the kernel when you boot? Are you
using the proper tape device to read/write to the drive?
