Re: netboot.img & Davicomm integrated ethernet

		Hi Jason et all!

A little more on the subject:
There should be an easier way to do your installation than the way I
described, but the problem is that in RedHat 6.2 the rescue mode is only
available from CD. Until 6.0 it was possible to do a rescue using the rescue
floppy, but for some weird reason this is no longer possible :(... Very stupid
indeed.
Had there been a rescue floppy, you could have tried using this, mounting a
floppy (ext2) with your necessary drivers, modprobe (or insmod) them, mount
the installation floppy, and try running the installation manually. With
Slackware you can (could?) do an NFS install if you mount the NFS share by
hand before running the installation program. I did this some time ago with
Slackware 4.0 or 7.0, I am not sure (InfoMagic "Development" Resource summer
or december 1999).
If you bought an official box you could/should send in a complaint. It
shouldn't be hard to reintroduce the rescue floppy.

One more thing on the tweaking of the bootnet floppy. If the compressed
modules archive turns out to be to big, you could try throwing out one or more
of the drivers you don't need. I think it is unnecessary to edit the other
files in the modules directory, but you might have to delete the corresponding
entries. To achieve the best compression, you could clear the files using dd
if=/dev/zero before deleting them.

				Good luck!

				Leonard.
