6.2 Upgrade problem

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade to RedHat 6.2 from 6.0. The upgrade process
proceeds just fine up to a point. I get to select keyboard and mouse
models, select upgrade instead of install, decline to customize the
packages to upgrade (though selecting customize doesn't help), it pops
up a window saying something like "reading package information", then
"Finding packages to upgrade". (Yes, I should have written that
down.). But it just stops at this point. The anaconda traceback is
(hand-typed, so there may be errors):
File "/usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/gtk.py". line 125, in __call__
ret = apply(self.func, a)
File "/usr/lib/anaconda/gui.py", line 340, in nextClicked
next = self.currentScreen.getNext ()
File "/usr/lib/anaconda/iw/examine.py", line 19, in getNext
self.todo.upgradeFindPackages (self.root)
File "/usr/lib/anaconda/todo.py", line 730, in upgradeFindPackages
packages = rpm.findUpgradeSet (self.hdList.hdlist, self.instPath)
rpm.error: error during upgrade check
I can code in python and use the debugger. I have upgraded before from
5.2 to 6.0
(pre-anaconda) with no problems. (Well, some latex packages
disappeared.)
I tried using some floppy disk images I found on the redhat errata
site. These are supposed to fix some anaconda bugs in 6.s, but I got
the same error. Perhaps I didn't boot properly; there were some
instructions about typing "linux updates" at the initial boot prompt and
I may have mis-typed it.
For what it's worth, I have a gateway select 400, AMD K6-2 (however the
numbers are ordered), a 13 Gbyte drive with linux on the
second partition at about 6.5Gbytes and windows 98 in the first
partition. The CD drive is an HP 9110i writer. Hard disk and CD drives
are on an ATAPI E-IDE interface. Sorry if there's some other
information I should have included.
Thanks in advance,
Clay
