Do you have a swap directory that is online? Having no swap can cause
explosions, under some circumstances.
The only other thing that comes to mind is hardware issues.
Incompatible or flaky hardware can cause panics. Hardware problems are
the only thing I've ever seen cause a panic in a stable kernel.
What were you doing when the panic occurred? That can help track it
down.
