I'd not suggest using that kernel, I believe 2.2.0 -.9 or was it .11 have
problems?

It's usually a rare event to downgrade, but if you must, you must.

It's as simple as recompiling the kernel and installing it.

I'd suggest reading thru the docs to help you along the way. (in the kernel
directory, and on the web)
