I actually installed that same card under Linux RH 6.0 on a generic Pentium i586.
Compared to my old Cirrus card the Trident 3D 975 is quite tempermental, it is very
finicky with settings that are used. It took me several tries through Xconfigurator
before I got it to work. Even after you get it to work you might want to hand edit
XF86Config to fine tune your settings.
