X - keyboard autorepeat eventually stops

I use my Redhat box as a workstation, and end up logged in for extremely
long periods of time.  I've noticed that eventually the keyboard
autorepeat function simply stops.  If I log off my workstation and back
on, the problem is resolved. 

Anyone know of a way to fix it without logging off?
