Hi,world:
I am now installing RH5 on a Compaq Presario 5457 (Video Chipset: SiS530, Monitor:
MV520), Now I encounter some problems.
The RH5 doesn't support SiS530, so I download x*.tgz files for SiS530 from XFree86.org
. But the "extract" file turns out to be a html file and despite of all the effort I can't make it
run, Hence I "gunzip" and "tar -xvf" the x*.tgz myself. Then I "xf86configure" the X setting.
The problem comes when I issued "startx" command:
The x display just occupies part of the screen, some x term widgets go out of the display.
The mouse moves in a unpredicable way.
Can anyone give me a hand? Are there any success stories for RH installation on this kind
of machine?
Thanks,
Z. Clifford
