Repeated question on kde-- sorry :)

I made the unfortunately mistake of losing all the mail from this
list sometime yesterday -- and so have no idea whether there was
a response to a previous post I submitted.  (The redhat archive
seems to end on February, 2000.)  

One nice thing someone might do would be to point in the
direction of an up-to-date list archive.

Here's my original question.  I prefer the KDE desktop.  Installing
6.1 with the kde workstation option worked just fine on my "work"
workstation.  But I'm having trouble here at home.  Although I selected
the kde workstation option, I'm still getting the gnome desktop.  With
some of the kde utilities.

Inserting an entry in /etc/sysconfig/desktop causes X to produce a
blank "X" screen on startup.  

I would be happy with just a suggestion about where to trouble-shoot
from here.
