CD-RW for random access ?

Adaptec ships a program which allows one to use a CD-RW as a big
floppy disk. It can be read and written to by explorer, e.g.  Is there
a way to use these CD-RW's created by the adaptec program in linux?
Basically I want to be able to easily move files back and forth
between the CD-RW and the hard disk. It is not sufficient to keep
created massive iso files.

Any ideas?
