RE: X Prob in Resolution?

I would say that there is no way (that I know of) to force the X server to
run at a aparticular rate, this could lead to damage on the monitor if it
were forced to do this. Is both your graphics card and monitor on the list
of supported hardware ?? If not then it may be possible that if you have all
the documentation from your graphics card/chip vendor to do a custom config
for your card and monitor but you would need to know both the horizontal
refresh rate and vertical refresh rate of your monitor and several other
pieces of info about your system. I believe that the command to run is
"xf86config" (running as root obviously) and then following the onscreen
prompts.

It doesnt surprise me that it worked fine under Windows, Windows98 probably
has got alot more drivers built into Windows plug and play than Linux will
ever have as this would make the kernel an unuseable size and hell to
recompile.
