Swapping hard drive to a new motherboard

I am building a new machine and want to take my existing
hard drive rh 6.1 configuration and just plug it into a newer machine.
The memory and video cards are the same but the cpu's are
different. Will it work or will it crash and burn and need to
be rebuilt.
