The most common way is to replace it with a real modem. Sorry, but you
probably have a winmodem which will run only with Windoze software. To
be sure, find the FCC id number on the modem or its documentation, then
have a look at
http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html
If you can't find the FCC id, have a look at the list of PCI devices
found:
cat /proc/pci | less
That won't give you an FCC id, but it may display the parentage of the
device.
If it is a winmodem, before you give up, have a look at
http://www.linmodems.org/
