Subject: Re: An Odd PPP Problem

Hello,

I have a laptop with RedHat 6.1 (Celeron 400MHz, 32MB RAM, 56k PCMCIA
modem), and similar problems.

I'm expiriencing ppp stalls after few minutes of connection.
I use kppp to dial up different providers; I found no difference
in the problem using different providers nor accessing different services.

With 'stall' I mean:
- all services using the link timeout or block; it's not even possible
to ping the computer giving dialup access.
- no messages from the kernel in /var/log/messages
- issuing ifconfig ppp0, I see that the sent packets count is stable and
no errors are reported; nonetheless ping claims it's just sent a bunch
of packets away. The received packets count increments sometimes.

I have no problems using Win98.

Well, we're at least in two :-(

Anyone, any suggestion?

TIA

Aldo Dolfi
