FW: Samba -- Mathew Halliday

Sorry Matt your reply came into my inbox not the list I have forwarded it on
below...

I've just been clearing out some of my e-mails and came upon this one.
We use Samba on 2 Linux servers and it works a treat. You don't have to log
onto the network and then onto Samba - set up Samba as a domain master and
then set up NT to log onto an NT domain. then set up shares on the server
using Samba and they appear on the network as normal shared Windows drives.
You can download O'Reilly's book, "Using Samba" from www.oreilly.com - it's
an open source book and is superbe. Our servers have been up and running
for many months now without a hitch. Also try www.samba.org.
Samba is stable, fast, effecient and poor Windows hasn't got a clue it's
talking to UNIX! Who'd pay thousands for NT Server when Linux does it
better - and for free!
Matt
