The 770, isn't that a TNT2 based card?
Should work fine with the newer SVGA server.

The TNT is in XF 3.3.3.1 (stock for RH6.0)
TNT2 was added with 3.3.4

What version of XFree86 do you have?
You should upgrade the XServer.
Was the TNT2 enev out when 3.3.3.1 was
released?

Check the updates for RedHat, get the newer XFree86 packages.
XFree86-3.3.5-1.6.0 was released by RedHat in Mid Sept 1999.

It supports The TNT2 cards. I used it on my MSI TNT card
untill the 3.3.6 release.
