create a setup disk with a custom kernel

I'm trying to install RedHat linux on an old IBM computer with
microchannel. For this purpose I compiled a new kernel because
the standard kernel on the installations disk freezes after
uncompressing the kernel. now how do i put the first stage
installer on the boot disk to get the installation started (i
need to install over the network). I couldn't find any
documentation of this process on the redhat website and even deja
didn't find any hints about it.

programming languages.
