Following / during your install I would recommend you use Lilo rather than Boot
Magic etc. because you can update lilo very easily from the command line and by
editing /etc/lilo.conf every time you install a new kernel.

There again, if you dont think you will be recompiling your kernel much then you
would not need the extra convvenience lilo gives.

I suppose you may not know at this stage whether you will be recompiling and
installing kernels much. If you are going to do any kernel hacking or if you are
involved with testing new hardware and the like on the development kernels, then
you will, but other than that you will not do much kernel recompiling....

So what's the problem with that?  You can assign the extra space to either
a secondary windows drive, other Linux partitions (only /boot needs to
be in the first 1024, not everything), or both.

I don't really know anything about bootmagic.  Sorry, I only use LILO.
