Re: FW: /lib/modules

Try this:

after 6 do

cp /lib/modules2.2.12-20smp /lib/modules/2.2.12-20smp.old

then carry on but omit 8

I'm trying to recompile a kernel.
Here is the order in which I'm doing this:
1)make xconfig
2)make dep
3)make clean
4)make bzImage
5)mv /boot/vmlinuz /boot/vmlinuz.old
6)cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz
7)make modules
8)mv /lib/modules2.2.12-20smp /lib/modules/2.2.12-20smp.old
9)make modules_install
10) edit lilo
11)run /sbin/lilo

That seems to be okay but, when I check /lib/modules after
reboot there is only 2.2.12-20smp.old.
I get dep errors because there is no new module in /lib/modules.
What am I doing wrong?

Tim
