I have RH 6.1 installed and installed Samba 2.0.6 from the Samba web
=
site binaries for Red Hat 6.1. I did this because my CD-ROM from Red Hat is defective when it came to Samba. It kept getting Magic errors. So that's why I went to Samba web site. Anyway, after rpm'ing 2.0.6, I can't get smbd running. The /var/log/samba/log.smb file contains the following: [...time...] smbd/server.c:main (643) smbd version 2.0.6 started. Copyright ...... [...time...] smbd/files.c:file_init (216) file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1014 are = available. [...time...] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in (853) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=3D0.0.0.0 (Address already in use) that's it. Additional info: smbd is not running - it does not show up in the task = list (ps -e). When I shut down, when it gets to the point when it tries to kill smbd, = it says: [FAILED] More info: Instead of one copy of nmbd, there are several. When I kill them all and just execute /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start, I get no smbd and again = several nmbd's. What in the world is happening ???? Please help. Doug drobson intermediatn net |
